Aside from pants, your smile can be one of the most important things that you put on every single day. A beautiful smile can have a great impact on how you feel about yourself, and what opportunities you take up in terms of your career, and relationships with friends and loved ones. Even for those that have experienced tooth loss or are not satisfied with the teeth that they have been given, there are a plethora of options out in the cosmetic dentistry scene that give you the chance to realize your best smile. If you’re looking for a permanent solution that not only produces wonderful and natural-looking results, but can give you back the functionality that you may have been missing, dental implants are it!

What are Dental Implants and Their Benefits?

Dental implants are composed of small titanium rods surgically placed into your jaw bone. These posts act as artificial roots for missing teeth and are able to bond in with the jaw bone creating a solid foundation for new artificial teeth.

If you have missing teeth, you know that it can affect more than just your smile. Missing teeth also can affect your facial structure and bone deterioration. Tooth loss can even have an effect on the way you eat, talk, and smile. By replacing these missing teeth with dental implants, you’re able to resume a higher quality of life.

The Procedure

Dental implants are typically done in a series of two different visits to the dental office. At the initial surgery, the titanium rods are placed into your jaw bone. These posts begin to biochemically bond with a jaw, also known as osseointegration. This process can take anywhere from three to six months. During these months, your dentist will provide temporary teeth to wear so that you don’t have to experience any amount of time without the function of your mouth.

At the second surgery, your dentist will then finally place your new customized teeth!
